GENERAL RULES


1. Decorum

The student should come to the College clean and tidy. Hair should be well trimmed and combed. No tight, see-through or gaudy colour dresses are permitted. Every student should wear his / her identity card on entering the college and remove it only when leaving the college.

2. Discipline in the campus

Irregular attendance, drunkenness, habitual idleness, negligence of assignments, disobedience and disrespect towards members of the staff, or bad moral influence justify dismissal. The student is responsible to the College authorities for his / her conduct both in and outside the college.

3. Towards the Staff

The student must be courteous and respectful to their staff members. Any disrespect shown to them will be considered as serious offence.

4. Protection of College Property

It is forbidden to write or scribble on the walls, desks and throw paper in or outside the classroom, or in any way damage the college property. Damages done must be made good. If the offender is not traceable, a collective fine will be imposed.

5. Personal Responsibility

Students are responsible for their own books, pens, laptop, cellphone, tiffin-carriers or any other article that they may bring to the College.

6. Objectionable Literature

Students are not allowed to bring in or distribute comics or objectionable Literature in the campus.

7. Participation Games, Functions, and Social Activities

Every student must take part in College games and other activities unless declared physically unfit or exempted by the Principal. Attendance of official college functions like the Parents Day, Sports Day, Independence Day, College Day etc., is compulsory. Absentees may be fined or penalized.

8. During College Hours

Students are not allowed to meet parents or to leave the College premises during the class hours without the permission of the Principal / Vice Principal.

9. Rule of Language

The medium of instruction is English, which alone should be used at all times in the college as it is the campus language.

10. Ragging

Ragging is completely forbidden in the college and hostel. Any student indulging in any form of ragging which affects the physical, emotional and moral psychological health of any student, will be severely dealt with and appropriate action will be taken according to the anti- ragging law.

11. Attendance

A student has to secure 65% attendance to appear for university exams. One has to repeat the semester if he/she does not have the above attendance.

12. Punctuality and leave taking

a. Students must be punctual for class on every working day. Penalty will be levied on latecomers.
b. No student shall be absent from the College without leave letter. Application for leave must be made beforehand to the Head of the Department and the same should be countersigned by the parent / guardian and presented to the Principal.
c. When the absence is due to unforeseen causes, an application for leave must be submitted on return. In case of long illness, medical certificate should be produced to the HOD. d. Submission of leave application with/without medical certificate does not entitle a student to earn attendance for the days of his / her absence.

13. Advice to Parents /Guardians

a. Parents /guardians are expected to co-operate in the work of the College by enforcing regularity, punctuality and discipline and by taking daily interest in their son’s / daughter’s progress. They should check the handbook for any special intimation.
b. Entrusting of a student to the College implies that the parent agrees to abide by the rules and regulations and decisions of the College.
c. No College business will be transacted during holidays.

14. Scholarships

Management scholarships like DB Foundation (Chennai), DB Net (Delhi), Orphan and Semi- orphan are offered to poor and deserving students. Besides, Government scholarships are also available for SC, ST, Adi Dravidar and students of minority communities.

15. Co-curricular Activities

The College offers various opportunities to students to excel in viz, dance, song, skit (English / Tamil), instrumental music, quiz, debate, mono acting, symposium, elocution, fancy dress, advertisement, seminars, camps, educational tour, indoor and outdoor sports, field trips, multimedia presentations, cultural fest etc.

16. Cellphones

Use of cellphone is totally prohibited in the campus. Offenders will be fined Rs.1000 and phone confiscated.

17. Change of Residence

The students shall report to the Principal whenever he/she changes the residence.

18. Boy-girl relationship

Any problem created within or outside the campus with regard to boy-girl relationship will lead to the dismissal from the College.

19. Students who come drunk or in possession of liquor or any drug will either be dismissed, suspended or debarred.
